Nice Fun Facts

Nice is the fifth largest city in France and is the capital of the French Riviera with a popularity of around 500,000. It’s competing with Marseille, Toulouse, Lyon and of course the capital Paris.
Nice is believed to be one of the oldest human settlements in the world after evidence of the usage of fire was found. Other findings included flints and evidence of the construction of houses dating back to more than 230,000 ago.
Nice became part of France in 1860, before this, it was an Italian dominion.
Nice is now a major transportation hub in Europe, low-cost airlines now offer frequent flights to the Nice Cote d’Azur Airport from London, Paris and other cities.
Nice used to have its own castle, Colline du Chateau, which overlooks the harbour. Little remains of this castle, yet the views from its panoramic location are stunning.
